Once again we attended the most important Hungarian digital museum conference in Budapest, at the Hungarian National Museum. In more than a decade, MuseumDigit has grown to become one of the most popular professional forums in the region.
MuseumDigit is the long-established conference of the Hungarian National Museum, organized for the 11th time this year by the Innovation and Training Directorate's department, the National Centre for Museological Methodology and Information. The Back and Rosta Ltd was represented with its popular mobile digital display, the "mini" Magic Wall, in the section for museum technology participants.
The two-day international conference at the end of november focused on current trends and innovations affecting museums, with a special emphasis on digitisation in museums. As in previous years, we thought that our interactive video wall would provide a memorable experience for conference guests and museum visitors alike.
We were rightfully optimistic. Our digital exhibition, selected from the many past and present collections of our long-standing partner, the host Hungarian National Museum, presented the rich and very popular treasure trove of the institution in a variety of formats. With videos, 3D illustrations, timelines and spectacular puzzles and quizzes, we evoked hit exhibitions such as "Seuso Treasures", "The Hungarian Bride" and "Shine!".
For two days, around 20 lectures and roundtable-discussions were held in the museum's Great Hall. Mainly reflecting on topics such as the use of artificial intelligence in public collections and the hybrid museum phenomenon, but also on conservation and the importance of visitor interaction. Participants were selected from the international pool of experts who have made outstanding contributions in their fields and have implemented exciting and innovative projects.
The presentations took place next to the cathedral-dome-looking main hall of the institution, right in the middle of the impressive Great Hall. This year, the organisers have set up just under this beautiful dome the area where science and technology partners have showcased their inventions. Back and Rosta's eye-catching interactive digital display, consisting of a single 86-inch monitor, spanning about nearly two metres, was also located here.
Hundreds of Hungarian and foreign attendees at the conference could only miss the Magic Wall's digital display if they had arrived with their eyes closed. No wonder that during the two-day event many people came to us and asked about our products and services. Many of them requested for solutions based on our custom-developed, proprietary innovations that go back more than a decade.
We also managed to establish contacts with various domestic museums and other co-exhibitors, and joint projects with high-quality digital service providers, mainly based on Hungarian inventions, could also foreshadow further cooperation for Back and Rosta. At the same time, the event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the current challenges of Hungarian museum strategy through innovative examples from abroad.
