Have you ever wondered what people see when they look at your skin? With Magic Wall, we believe there’s so much more beneath the surface — and our upcoming collaboration with Made A Masterpiece invites everyone to explore that together.
A Deeper Look Than Skin
Skin conditions and birthmarks affect 1 in 5 children. But the impact isn’t just physical. It touches emotional well-being, social confidence, childhood development. Many with visible differences unexpectedly face misunderstanding, stigma, or isolation — simply because what others see is skin, not the story underneath. Magic Wall is proud to be part of “Look at Me. What Do You See? — This Is Me. Let Me Help You See” — a traveling exhibition built to shift perspective.
What Makes the Exhibit Unique
Here’s how this experience goes beyond traditional museum displays:
Interactivity at its core. The centerpiece is the Magic Wall itself, developed with Back & Rosta. Imagine a large-scale, museum-grade touch screen/video wall that responds to movement, touch, and choice. Visitors don’t just observe — they engage, explore, and connect.
Multimedia narrative. You’ll find stories and artwork, photographic portraits, video interviews, and rich digital media. QR codes let you take part via your phone, both during your visit and beyond.
Holistic awareness. The exhibit doesn’t just show what skin conditions look like. It digs into what they feel like — mentally, socially, emotionally. It educates about what skin disease is and what it isn’t, challenging biases and encouraging compassion.
Why This Matters
Stigma has real consequences. Research shows that children with visible skin conditions often face social, emotional, and psychological challenges. Many feel unseen or misunderstood. Exhibitions like this help change the narrative.
Connecting people & stories. By bringing in families, artists, organizations, and first-hand stories, the exhibit builds empathy. It’s not abstract or distant; it’s about living experiences.
Education + awareness = empowerment. When people understand more, reactions shift. When understanding grows, so do kindness, inclusion, and self-acceptance.
The Journey of the Exhibition
Set to launch in Fall 2026 at The Health Museum in Houston, Texas. Then it’ll travel to cities across the USA for about five years, staying several months in each location.
While in each place, there’ll be complementary educational programs: school visits, community group activations, interactions with healthcare providers. The goal is to deepen the conversation, not just display it.
Magic Wall’s Role & Your Part in the Story
Magic Wall is proud to power the interactive digital component of this exhibition. We believe technology can be a bridge — helping people move from seeing skin to understanding stories, from assumptions to empathy.
But this project is bigger than any one organization. Whether you’re:
an educator who wants to bring discussions of identity, diversity, and empathy into the classroom
a healthcare provider or advocate working with patients who live with visible differences
someone who simply wants to help make the world more understanding
…there’s a role for you. Share the stories. Support the conversations. Help bring this exhibit to your community.
